Development of Exclusive Seismic Fragility Curves for Critical Infrastructure: An Oil Pumping Station Case Study

Fragility curves are a common tool to appraise the expected damage critical infrastructure (CI) after an earthquake event. Previous studies offer fragility curve parameters for CI that suitable vast range of systems, without in-depth examination system architecture and subcomponents. These applicable in cases where thorough analysis is not required or when information related single poor. This paper proposes original approach presents comprehensive methodology developing exclusive systems. In proposed methodology, developed by decomposition into its main subcomponents determination failure mechanisms. The derivation includes each state Fault Tree Analysis approximation accordance with rate exceedance. implementation demonstrated case study three alternatives oil pumping plant configuration. It was found change subcomponent has effect on derived values parameters. Moreover, variances have implications effectiveness alternative resist different levels severity.
